Maui is known for its soft white sand beaches, majestic rainbows, secluded waterfalls, tropical landscape, and iconic sunsets. Once the sun goes down however, there are somewhat limited options for keeping the vacation activities going. Below we have arranged a list of popular indoor and outdoor venues on Maui where you have the best chance of enjoying impressive live entertainment ranging from concerts, plays, stand-up comedy, and other unique stage acts.
Take some time to review the event calendars at these different venues to see if something may catch your eye while you are staying with us here on Maui.
MACC – The Maui Arts and Cultural Center located in Kahului is where all the top acts perform when touring on Maui. This venue, which includes world-class indoor and outdoor facilities hosts concerts, film festivals, comedians, festivals, and more. Be sure to check the event calendar when you are vacationing on Maui to see what big event may be scheduled. Party like a local!
Iao Theater – This Maui venue is on the National Register of Historic Places and dates back to 1928. The Spanish Mission-Revival style architecture of Iao Theater creates an instant charm before even stepping through the front doors. Hosting around seven full scale productions a year (each running a little over one month), this is your best opportunity to see Maui’s top actors and performers flex their muscles. You would be surprised to read the resumes and training many of our acting community on Maui have. Take a peek to see what performances may be planned during your visit.
Da Playground Maui– Maui doesn’t really have a happening nightlife, but Da Playground Maui is trying to switch that up. Located in Ma’alaea’s Maui Harbor Shops, just a stones throw from the Maui Ocean Center, Da Playground is an indoor venue that is jam-packed with events nightly ranging from top local artists and DJs to touring musicians from the mainland. This is your best option for staying out past midnight on Maui.
ProArts Playhouse– Most locals living outside the beach town of Kihei still haven’t discovered this hidden gem on Maui’s southside. This tiny playhouse that has seating for around 100 patrons has quite an impressive and broad range of offerings. From musicals and full-blown theatrical plays to improv comedy nights and solo acoustic musicians, you will not be disappointed with a live performance at ProArts Maui. Plan for pre-show dinner and cocktails at Nalu’s South Shore Grill a few doors down.
